GATEway’s annual Science Fair is open to ALL interested students in grades 3-6 currently enrolled in any public, private or home schools in the greater Rochester area. Before the Science Fair, think of a topic that interests you, then do an experiment at home to learn more about it. Explain your experiment with pictures, words, and graphs on a display board. Bring your board to the Science Fair to explain your project to reviewers. The Science Fair is non-competitive; no ribbons or prizes are awarded. You will see a fun Science Museum of MN presentation and receive a certificate of participation, written reviews of your project, and a cool t-shirt! Please see rules and full information at www.rochestergateway.com. The registration deadline is February 2. Late registrations will be accepted as space allows, however late registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt. We will follow Community Education’s refund policy up until February 7th, after which there will be no refunds. On the registration form, indicate t-shirt size (Youth S, M, L, or Adult S, M, L, XL) and project category [biology, chemistry, physics, consumer science, earth/environmental, engineering/math or other/undecided]. If you are working on a team project, each partner must register separately and identify each other as partners when registering. A supervising adult must attend with the student; non-participating family members are welcome to attend free. Doors open at 12:30 pm; event starts at 1:30. Please plan to arrive between 12:30 and 1:00 pm to check-in and to get set up at your pre-assigned project spot. Parking is available in the Damon Ramp. Please note that pictures for publication WILL BE TAKEN at the fair and local media may also be present to interview/film/photograph for a news story. In the event of inclement weather, the fair will be postponed to the same time on Sunday, February 27th as long as travel conditions allow. Monitor our website for upcoming information on a t-shirt design idea contest (deadline early November) and about registering for free how-to workshops (scheduled the week after Thanksgiving). You will find us at www.rochestergateway.com. The Science Fair is run by volunteers who would welcome your help.
