It helps students learn to react and respond to unexpected situations, and builds confidence and creative abilities. Nothing in life is scripted! In this supportive, fun class for beginners and old hats alike, students will play improv games, participate in character-building exercises, learn about giving and taking focus, and learn to tell stories as an ensemble. PopularImmersion Youth Repertory Theatre: "Kiss Me, Kate" (Gr. 8-12)TheatreIn this camp, students will experience a full-scale musical production, from audition to performance. With romance, comedy, fantastic dance numbers and behind-the-scenes hijinks, "Kiss Me Kate" combines the irreverent humor of two brilliant writers: Cole Porter and William Shakespeare, and it is the winner of 5 Tony Awards. This classic comedy tells the story of a theatre company putting on a musical version of "The Taming of the Shrew." Strong singers and dancers needed but first time theatre participants are encouraged, as well. Registration closes on the audition date of June 11th. All who register will be cast. A confirmation email with a link to sign up for an audition time will be sent after registration. Students should bring a bag lunch, snack and drink to camp each day. Performances are July 23 & 24 at the Rochester Civic Theatre.2022 Summer Youth
