Conversations that Matter: National Healthcare Decision

Adult Enrichment / Finances -
2026 Adult Winter/Spring Catalog

National Healthcare Decisions Week is a nationwide initiative each April that encourages adults to plan ahead for potential health emergencies. One of the most important steps you can take is advance care planning.

In this two-session class, you’ll learn why advance care planning matters and take steps to ensure your wishes are honored. Together we will:

  • Explore what’s included in an Advance or Healthcare Directive (also known as a living will).
  • Discuss how to appoint a healthcare power of attorney (agent) to make medical decisions if you are unable to do so yourself.
  • Share strategies for communicating your wishes with family and loved ones.

Class outline:

  • Session 1: Instructor Deah will introduce advance care planning, explain its importance, and provide a variety of Healthcare Directive options to choose from.
  • Session 2: You’ll refine your choices, make decisions, and complete your paperwork—just in time for National Healthcare Decisions Week.
