Welcome to the Dakota Cooking Club! we are excited to offer students the opportunity to explore the fun and creativity of cooking while learning valuable life skills. Our club focuses on teaching kitchen safety, basic cooking techniques, teamwork, and healthy food choices in a positive and supportive environment.

About Cooking Club

Cooking Club will meet Wednesdays ( listed dates located in Eleyo) in SLICE Kitchen. Each session will include:

1.  A short lesson on Kitchen tools, safety, or nutrition.
2. A hands-on cooking activity.
3. Group cleanup and discussion about what we learned.

All recipes will be age- appropriate and will ingredients that are safe and manageable for middle school students.

Safety First safety is out top priority. Before any cooking begins, students will receive instruction on: 

1. Proper handwashing and hygiene.
2. Safe use of knives, stovetops, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
3. How to prevent and respond to minor kitchen accidents.

Students are expected to follow all safety guidelines and listen carefully to instructions at all times.

Injury and Accident Policy

While every precaution will be taken to ensure a safe environment , Minor injuries ( such as cuts or burns) can occur in cooking setting.

1. All activities will be supervised by school staff at all times.
2. first aid will be administered on-site for minor injuries.
3. Parents/guardians will be notified of any injures that may occur.
4. In the event of a more serious injury, emergency medical services will be contacted immediately and parents will be notified as soon as possible.

Parents/Guardians must complete the club permission and emergency contact form before participation.

Allergies and Food Sensitivities: Please inform the club advisor, Hannah Sebranek, of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. We will make every effort to adapt recipes or provide alternatives to ensure all students can safely participate.
