Risks, Realities, and Paths to Prevention: Preventing Alcohol and Drug Misuse in our Youth

Adult Enrichment / Wellness -
2026 Adult Winter/Spring Catalog

Drug and alcohol misuse have reached crisis levels nationwide, and traditional prevention efforts have not been enough to reverse the trend. This class offers practical, realworld strategies to address these challenges.

Together, we will explore the factors driving substance use, the scope of the problem, and the unique vulnerabilities faced by children and youth. Experts will share insights and evidencebased approaches to help protect young people of all ages from the harms of alcohol and drug misuse.

Parents, schools, and communities all play a vital role in strengthening support systems, preventing substance use, and effectively intervening when youth have already begun to use drugs or alcohol.

If you are a parent, grandparent, teacher, or any other adult concerned about substance use among young people, this course is designed for you.

Professionals from diverse backgrounds, representing several community organizations, will share their knowledge and expertise.
