This is a class for people with little or no woodcarving experience. The class objective is to give you the basic skills, which will allow you to enjoy the art of woodcarving while completing 3 projects: a comfort bird, spoon, and Christmas ornament. Bring any carving tools you may have. The first night of class we will be using a carving knife. For the next 3 nights, we will be using a carving knife, a 3/8” (10mm) #9 gouge, a ½” (13mm) #5 gouge, and a ¼” (6mm) or a 5/16” (8mm) V-tool. Tools will be available the first night of class. There is a supply fee of $25.00 that will be collected the first night of class.
Everett has taught all levels of woodcarving throughout the United States, along with creating two best selling DVD's, "Beginning Woodcarving" and "Sharpening Simplified". He has written two books, "Woodcarving Techniques & Projects for the First Time Carver" and his 275 page, "The Complete Book of Woodcarving"; the latter of which has been translated into German, Chinese and Russian.
Joleen Fink will be teaching this class with her father, Everett Ellenwood. Joleen has been a student (and daughter) of Everett for as long as she can remember! While studying with her dad she has also taken carving classes in caricature carving, bark carving, and chip carving. She is the owner of “Ellenwood Arts” a woodcarving supply business.
