Improvisational Comedy at Dakota If you have ever seen the show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you know that simple games can lead to hilarious results. Join Mr. Andino, one of our Dakota counselors, and try a wide range of improv games that are a perfect introduction to acting for students of all experience levels. It features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), music by two-time Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), choreography by Danny Mefford (Dear Evan Hansen) and direction by award-winning director Jessica Stone. Kimberly is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. In this “howlingly funny heartbreaker of a show” (The New Yorker), Kim is forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush…and possible felony charges. Ever the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure. After completing four sessions (16 weeks) of Experienced Authors, students are invited to continue their journey in writing. These four-week sessions will focus on larger, more complete works of writing, including short stories, chapters, novellas, and full novels.
