  • Power Up: Exploring Electricity and Circuits (Gr. 2-5)

    What is electricity and how do circuits work? From wires to resistors, each component plays a crucial role in ensuring our lives stay powered and safe. This camp teaches students the basics of engineering, electronics, and circuitry through fun, hands-on projects. Using Snap Circuits and other real-life examples, students will work with everyday components to better understand these concepts.

    RYF: Open Fencing/MN High School Meet Preparation (Ages 7 & Up)

    In this course, students will continue developing their fencing skills and techniques in preparation for USFA tournaments and Minnesota High School Meets. The course is also open to fencers seeking to refine their abilities in an open-practice format. Participants must provide their own fencing equipment or pay an additional $30 equipment fee on the first day of class. Additional USFA membership and tournament registration fees may apply for those who choose to compete. Private lessons are available upon request. PLEASE NOTE: All participants should have completed a beginner class, possess a working knowledge of fencing, and be able to fence independently. This is NOT a beginner course.

    Whether you are an experienced rock climber or have never climbed before, we invite you to join our LGBTQ+ group climb at Roca Climbing & Fitness. Climbing shoes and harnesses will be provided. This event requires parent/guardian permission and a $5 registration fee. Roca Rules Please register by July 20th (at least a week before the event.) All climbers, parents, and spectators must have a signed Visitor Agreement on file with Roca, even if they are not climbing.     Skyhawks: Basketball Camp (Ages 6-12)

    This fun, skill-intensive program is designed with the beginner-to-intermediate player in mind. Using our progressive curriculum and focusing on the whole player, we teach your child the skills needed both on and off the court to be a better athlete. Our basketball staff will focus on respect, teamwork, and responsibility, starting each day with a “skill of the day” and progressing into drills and games. The result is an unforgettable camp experience for your young athlete. After a week of passing, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding, your child will show you why this is one of our most popular programs.     Skyhawks Track & Field was developed to introduce young athletes to a sport rich in tradition and history. This program combines technical development and fundamental techniques with safety while keeping a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our staff teach the standard track & field events: long distance, sprints, soft hurdles, relays, shot put, discus, and standing long jump. Our exercises and drills prepare athletes for a future in cross country, track & field events, and distance running while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are covered in this unique program. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end-of-the-week track meet! Students should come to camp wearing athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.     STORYBOOK THEATRE Once upon a time... we put on a show! Welcome to Storybook Theatre where we take classic fairytales and put a fun twist on them, and then you get to act them out! Do you love acting, singing, and dancing? Then Storybook Theatre will surely be a great fit for you! In just one week we'll put together a whole musical, and you get to be one of the stars! Come have a wondrous week with Storybook Theatre! GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS Order in the courtroom! The Bear family is bringing a case against Goldilocks by accusing her of breaking and entering, stealing their favorite meal, and causing property damage. But with Goldilocks’ charm and innocence, will it be a fair trial? As the Bear family tries to prove their case, the big question is: Can they convince the jury that Goldi isn’t as sweet and innocent as she seems? PLEASE NOTE: Auditions will be held on Monday, July 28th starting at 12:15 PM but may finish before 4:30 PM. Monday: 12:15 PM - 4:30 PM Tuesday: 12:15 PM - 4:30 PM - Specific start time will vary depending on the participant's role. Schedules will be handed out to students after roles are assigned on Monday. Wednesday and Thursday: 12:15 PM - 4:30 PM Friday: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM with performance at 6:30 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM with performance at 10:00 AM To participate in this theatre camp, students MUST be available at all scheduled times. All participating students will have a role in this performance. No refunds will be processed after auditions.

  • Sunshine and Roses: Step-By-Step Canvas Painting (Ages 3 & Up)

    Join Sunshine and Roses Traveling Art Studio to paint and create your own beautiful masterpiece! These courses are so much fun and no experience is needed. Step-by-step instructions will be given by our teaching artist. All supplies, including an 11x14 canvas, are provided to participants. Moms, dads, grandmas, and grandpas want to join in the fun? Adults are invited to register as well for an amazing bonding experience with their student. There will be 2 classes per day with 2 different paintings; you have the option to register for one class or both. Please come dressed in clothes that can get paint on them. This course is taught by Grace Kittelson of Sunshine and Roses Canvas Traveling Art Studio.   • Table Tennis and Team XNT5 (Gr. 1-9)

    Join Team USA Table Tennis Coach Qi Wei as he teaches you the fundamentals of table tennis. Students will learn stroke fundamentals, develop footwork, game strategies, shot selection, and specialty skills. Table tennis is not only fun but helps to improve hand-eye coordination, mental awareness, reflexes, and core muscles. It will keep your mind sharp and it's easy on the joints! Please come dressed in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes, and bring a table tennis paddle. The class will be held at Team XNT5 Training Facility, 4867 19th ST NW Rochester, MN 55901.
  • Tarot Reading 101 (Gr. 6-12)

    Come learn the basics of reading tarot cards. People have used tools including tea leaves, pendulums, and, yes, tarot cards to ask questions and seek answers for centuries. This workshop covers the core features of tarot decks and an introduction into how to pull and read cards in a "spread." Decks will be provided to share, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like! Outdoor Location We are moving outdoors for the summer and will utilize the new outdoor classroom that lies between Goose Egg Park and the Northrop Community Education Center. Please note that the Northrop parking lot will be under construction and will not be available. This event will take place rain or shine, except in case of severe weather. The outdoor classroom is covered and offers some protection from the elements. If needed, we have the option to move indoors.     Create Nintendo-inspired characters using TinkerCAD while learning 3D design skills. You'll also do fun Nintendo-inspired challenges and create themed video games while waiting for the prints to finish. One to two student-designed projects will be printed and sent home.   • Tech Academy: Extreme Robotics: Robo-Wars (Gr. 3-6)

    Exciting class with new builds and challenges! Take your engineering skills to a higher level. Build remote-controlled robots inspired by the popular Discovery Channel's BattleBots. Students will use the EV3 Mindstorm Robotics Systems and unique LEGO® Technic™ engineering components to build extreme, competitive robots. Students will be challenged to morph their projects into better, stronger, and faster robots to compete in a tournament on the last day. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.
  • Tech Academy: Nintendo-Themed Coding & STEAM Adventures (Gr. 1-3)

    Embark on a week of Nintendo-themed STEAM adventures. You'll work together to code, animate, and build games. Create your own Super Mario Odyssey-inspired mini-movie, build immersive sets, and solve engaging challenges. This program is perfect for students who want to develop their creative and technical skills. It's a fantastic way to learn and have fun! Students should have basic reading skills.   • Tech Academy: Video Game Design (Gr. 3-7)

    Join us for an exciting week of game design! This course will give you hands-on experience developing your own game. Students will create their own version of asteroids from scratch using Construct 3, a visual coding platform that teaches students the basics and structure of programming. Computer skills are needed (this includes good keyboard and mouse skills). Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day.
  • The Great Rainbow Bake Off (Gr. 6-12)

    Participate in a light-hearted baking competition inspired by popular TV shows The Great British Bake Off and Nailed It! Your team will be judged on flavor and design with the chance to win prizes. No prior baking experience is required. Note: Ingredient subsitutions may not be possible to accommodate dietary restrictions. All youth and adults must agree to the SLICE! Learning Kitchen safety policies before entering. Community Members Needed Many adult volunteers are needed to make this event possible. We welcome you to volunteer, especially if you are already a star baker. If you prefer eating baked goods to producing them, attend as a judge! No registration is required to be a judge. Please join us from 3:15 - 4:30 PM.
