    ILLUMINATE Camp Invention’s new program, Illuminate, is an inspiring, weeklong summer experience that provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Campers take on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, have fun collaborating with friends, think creatively and invent their own solutions to real-world challenges. The all-new 2024 program will spark the imagination of both new and returning campers with an adventure full of inspiration, innovation and unforgettable discoveries! During this action-packed, confidence-boosting program, young innovators will: Develop their own sports ball and customize a light-up game with a unique brand and logo as they explore athletics, design and innovation. Discover the science of light through illuminating inventions and fluorescent animals, then build a one-of-a-kind Glow Box using circuitry and ultraviolet light. Embark on an epic global operation to tackle water challenges around the world, learning the role that water plays with the help of a robotic lab-on-wheels. Star as a contestant on a prototyping game show, molding and shaping ideas into awesome inventions using everyday items and a DIY toolbox. Children work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. In the Camp Invention EXPLORE program, campers will dive into ocean research with their own robotic fish, develop inventions for space exploration, build a spinning robotic artist and design a mega marble arcade! Each activity is designed to inspire curiosity, stretch imaginations, and give your explorer an epic summer experience.     Chess Camp (Gr. 2-8)

    This chess camp is for all ages and stages! Rochester CE chess camp is sure to improve your game. Students will learn basic concepts of the game, as well as fundamental concepts such as castling and check. Beginner and advanced strategy will be taught so you can learn how to attack the enemy king! Multiple achievement levels will be sure to challenge everyone, from beginner to expert! Show what you've got by mastering the next level.
  • GRASP Summer Academic Review: Mail in Workbook (Gr. K-8)

    GRASP is an academic workbook correspondence program designed for students to review and maintain skills that were learned during the school year. Students complete nine lessons in math, reading or both over the summer. Each lesson takes about one hour to complete. Students will mail their answer sheets in pre-addressed envelopes directly to GRASP for correcting. All lessons must be completed and postmarked for correction by August 5th. Students will receive their scores back via email. Rochester Community Education will be contacting all participants to pick up their workbooks at Northrop when they are available. Please register your student for the grade they completed during the 2023/2024 school year. Registration deadline for this program is May 17th.
  • GRASP Summer Academic Review: Online Workbook (Gr. 4-8)

    GRASP is an academic workbook correspondence program designed for students to review and maintain skills that were learned during the school year. Students complete nine lessons in math, reading or both over the summer. Students will receive their scores back via email. New online option for students in Grades 4-8 only. If paper isn’t your thing, try the new online version! All materials are online only. Using the online option gives you the opportunity for immediate scoring and feedback. Instead of a book and paper copies, you will receive an email from GRASP on or before June 5th with website and login instructions. Please select online version during the registration process. All online lessons must be completed by August 10th. Please register your student for the grade they completed during the 2023/2024 school year. Registration deadline for this program is May 17th.
  • Planting Seeds Tutoring: Press (Gr. 1-6)

    Want to be on TV, but don't consider yourself an actor? Try broadcast journalism. Planting Seeds Press is designed to form a team of young reporters who cover current events, breaking news, entertainment stories, and sporting events from around the world. Students will have fun taking on the roles of News Anchor, News Reporter, Meteorologist and more! Until next time, Planting Seeds Press signing off! Full day students please bring a water bottle, snack, and bag lunch daily. Half day students please bring a water bottle and snack daily.

    Welcome to our free Summer Debate Camp for students entering grades 7-9! Get ready for four exciting days packed with the thrill of debate! Monday through Wednesday: Learn what debate is about! Dive into intensive prep sessions where you'll research evidence to support your argument and counter your opponent's, all while honing persuasive skills and teamwork in two-person teams. Thursday: It's showtime! Take the stage and engage in spirited debates against peers! Get ready for a week of putting your skills to the test! Don't miss out - register now!
