Is your house full of excitement and wonder about this upcoming milestone? Would your little one benefit from a crash course in everything Kindergarten? If those answers have been yes, we have the summer experience for your child! Community Education, along with your child's school and teachers, have created a course for incoming Kindergarteners to help them feel prepared and excited to come to school at the end of August! Kindergarten Prep Camp is a one-week introductory program designed to prepare incoming Kindergarten students for their exciting journey ahead. Through a blend of engaging activities, interactive lessons, and socialization opportunities, children will ease into the Kindergarten experience while fostering essential skills for success. Some of the things we will focus on during this session are: Experience what a regular day in Kindergarten will be like Hands-on learning Art projects Purposeful play The real classroom routine Number games A chance to learn the layout of the school Experience on how classroom materials are used Kindergarten Prep Camp is designed to set a positive tone for the upcoming school year, ensuring that children feel comfortable, supported, and excited about their upcoming Kindergarten experience. This class is for Gibbs' incoming Kindergarteners. Classes will meet in your child's school building and classrooms. Please send a sack lunch and a beverage (or a water bottle) daily. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from Kindergarten Prep Camp.2025 Summer Youth

Knife Class at Tunnel MillArts and CraftsCome and learn to make and grind your own knife from basic materials. Start with a piece of steel and some wood - add a little labor and guidance - a knife will materialize. Open to all skill levels. Be prepared to come to work and be challenged. Basic blacksmithing skills preferred. $150 class fee to be collected at time of class by Tunnel Mill Crafts; includes instructor fees and a light lunch. LGBTQ+ Art Night Spring 2025 (Gr. 6-12)LGBTQ+Come and get creative together in a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ youth. Led by local queer illustrator and comic book artist Micah Amundsen, youth are invited to bring their own supplies and work on any art projects that they're passionate about. Art supplies and project ideas will also be provided for less experienced artists. Friends, allies, and adult LGBTQ+ role models are invited as well. How to Participate: Youth: Registration is optional but encouraged. Show up at the event. If you feel comfortable, please register in advance using the Youth "Enroll Now" button on this page. NewLGBTQ+ Art Night Summer 2025 (Gr. 6-12)LGBTQ+Come and get creative together in a safe and affirming space led by queer illustrator and comic book artist Micah Amundsen. Outdoor Location We are moving outdoors for the summer and will utilize the new outdoor classroom that lies between Goose Egg Park and the Northrop Community Education Center. Please note that the Northrop parking lot will be under construction and will not be available. This event will take place rain or shine, except in case of severe weather. The outdoor classroom is covered and offers some protection from the elements. If needed, we have the option to move indoors. LGBTQ+ Board Game Night Spring 2025 (Gr. 6-12)LGBTQ+LGBTQ+ youth are invited to play board games! Friends and allies are welcome too. We have played a wide range of games from the fast-paced "Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza" to "Coup," a game about calculated bluffing and betrayal. You do not need to bring any board games of your own, but we will prioritize games brought by youth. Whether you are in high school or middle school, you will find a table that is fun for you. We invite adults who identify as LGBTQ+ community members to play games with students. They serve as unique role models who are not always visible in our regular school environment. NewLGBTQ+ Board Game Night Summer 2025 (Gr. 6-12)LGBTQ+We’re celebrating two years of community gaming! What began as a one-time event has grown into more than 20 monthly sessions led by youth. We play all kinds of games and encourage participants to bring ones they love. Favorite games from past nights include Unstable Unicorns, Uno, Superfight, Machi Koro, and Coup. What makes this meetup special is its intentional focus on creating a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ youth and adult volunteers to connect and have fun together. Please Note: The location of this activity has changed from its usual location. Board Game Nights will be hosted at the Rochester Public Library this summer.
